Nova Scotia is taking steps toward implementing extended producer responsibility programs for packaging, paper products and other blue bag materials. Two EPR regulations were released on August 2, 2023, with an implementation date set for December 1, 2025.

To be exempt under the Regulation, you must be:
Packaging, paper products and packaging-like products are designated under the Regulation, which includes paper, rigid plastic, flexible plastic, glass and metal.
Program does not include materials from an existing stewardship program: pressurized gas/hazardous products, product designed for the containment of waste, packaging used to contain or transport refillable beer containers, or books.
